Which Colors Look Best On You?

What is at the center of looking great? Is it dressing for your body shape and size? Is it finding your style and sticking with what works? Yes, it can be all of those things, but there is something else: wearing the right colors. If you get your colors mixed up, you can go from being bright and beautiful to looking washed out and tired. The wrong shade can make you look older, miserable or even sickly. There is this shade of taupe that makes me look dead...I call it the casket color. And, yes, I avoid it like the plague. Choosing the best colors to suit your skin tone, hair color, eyes and more is essential if you want to look your best. If you're not sure which ones are best for you, these tips will help!

Why Do You Wear Clothes?

Clothing is actually the most underutilized tool at our daily disposal (IMO of course!).... So often do we just go to the store, find our “size”, throw it in the cart, and hope that it “fits”. Will it meet the bare necessities? Most likely, yes. Will it be comfortable? Maybe. Will it flatter you? Well.... probably not, unless you get really lucky (refer to my first post, Rule No. 4... Try EVERYTHING on). What a lot of women don’t realize is....

Fashionista Inspirations: Where Do I Look?

So, after reading my post last week.... maybe you think, “Yes. I need some help in this whole fashion image area. But where the heck do I start??” A lot of women I come across feel that way. They know their wardrobe needs some TLC, but short of stripping all the mannequins in the store.... many women don’t really know how to put together a “look”. But before you even step foot in a store and spend your hard-earned money, you need to have a plan. An idea. An inspiration!

Finding Style Confidence

For some women (even me) changing their look can be a scary thing. We get comfortable with what we see in the mirror and assume that others feel the same way when they look at us. So, why should we change? For me it’s about being creative and allowing self-expression. Your reason may be something completely different.

Healthy Fashion

Although the terms "health" and "fashion" may not be commonly used together right now, I believe we will soon see a deluge of "organic/healthy" clothing and accessories that takes us to a new era of living healthy and looking great while doing it. Since I'd like to see every woman consider the "Be Well-Be Beautiful" concept as a lifestyle, I thought we could take a look at some of the products that are currently offered in the market.

Fashion Dos and Don’ts for Summer

1. Don't forget that fit is more important than style. If you wear something because it's your favorite color or it's trendy, just remember to choose pieces that flatter your body type and really fit you well.

Fashion Dos and Don’ts

1. Don't wear flip-flops or mules when it's raining; the flipping motion of the shoes will splatter the backs of your legs with water and whatever else in which you step. I never did this again after ruining a good pair of white pants. 2. Don't sweat the little out-of-place hairs. Today's natural-looking trends not only permit but even encourage styles that are not perfect. It's okay to be a little un-done.

Fashion Dos and Don’ts

1. Do own one timeless dress. 2. Don't think layering is just for winter; this fashion key is hip all year long. 3. Don't ever wear anything that could pass for country curtains or a bedspread. 4. Do find the impressive array of colorful, textured, and classy bags at Dillard's. Pictured at upper left, Antonio Melani "Louise" Shopper, $219.

Fashion Finds For Everyone

Truth be told, no two women are exactly alike. We don't look alike, sound alike, act alike, or share the same fashion sense. Because of this wonderful fact, I decided to do a search for some unique fashions that can be categorized for different style and body types. Just remember, it's okay to cross over into someone else's category. You just might find you are more versatile than you thought you were.

Fashion Dos and Dont’s: The Jacket

1. Do get measured for a custom fit. Some department stores have a free alteration service. 2. Do look for this season's "Boyfriend" jacket. Longer and boxier, this trend gives a nice contrast to a frilly blouse.

The Worst Outfit Ever

Do you recall the worst outfit you ever wore? Hopefully, it was many moons ago and not yesterday. I would have to say that my worst was while I was in my "pioneer woman" days. Yes, believe it or not, I had a bad era of fashion.
