4 Ways To Reduce Anxiety Naturally

Unfortunately, anxiety is prevalent in our culture due to overwork, poor diet, toxins, and other emotional pressures. In fact, a whopping 264 million people worldwide are estimated to have an anxiety disorder. Furthermore, it occurs in women nearly twice as much as it does in men. This is a huge concern, considering how it can negatively affect our lives and relationships. I recommend you try to improve the situation naturally if you can. Do also consult a doctor if the anxiety does not improve or gets worse. In the meantime, here are some ways to combat anxiety with simple natural actions.

Change What You Eat and Drink

One of the biggest things that you can do for general anxiety is to consume a healthful diet. Limit high-fat meats, processed sugar, and some grains if you are sensitive to them. Our bodies need fresh fruits and veggies to be healthy, so try to eat more of them on a daily basis. Furthermore, reducing or abstaining from substances like caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine will immediately improve your general health.  Additionally, adding certain supplements or CBD tinctures have also been known to aid anxiety. Do consult your doctor before taking new supplements or treatments, especially if you’re on medication.

Improve Your Sleep

We all know that sleep is important, and, yet, so many of us don’t get enough of it. And, anxiety certainly doesn’t help us get a good night’s rest. The best thing I’ve ever done to ensure quality sleep is to maintain a routine at the same time every night. This helps your brain and body know exactly when to prepare for sleep by setting the natural circadian rhythm into motion.

Make sure your room is dark, cool, and there are no electronics on at least 30-minutes before bedtime. If something is bothering you, write it down to get it out of your head. Either crumble the paper or set it aside to look at the next day. I also find deep breathing and a warm bath helps me to relax before bed.

Limit Electronic Device Usage

Obviously, we can’t avoid electronic devices entirely, as we rely on them for work and other aspects of life. That said, reducing the amount of time spent looking at screens is absolutely worth our while. Consider what is necessary and what is not. Watching that extra TV show or engaging in social media for entertainment are two things we can immediately change, as they are not integral.

Screens make us more and more anxious when we are exposed to them all the time. Have you ever watched someone at the mall or in a restaurant and notice she can’t get off her phones or tablet? You might also notice that same woman seems agitated or nervous. Yeah, it’s really an addiction that can hurt our physical and emotional health. Not to mention, it is a distraction from real life and those around us.

Find Ways to Relax

One of the most important things we can do for our general health and anxiety is to rest. By “rest” I don’t necessarily mean sleep. Finding ways to relax throughout the day give our bodies and minds a break from things that bring up anxiety levels and fatigue.

Take a few minutes to breathe deeply or take a short walk to clear your head. These few sacred moments of self-care can and will make a difference in how you feel and react to stress. Furthermore, listen to your body. If you are suddenly overwhelmed with a situation, back away from it if you can. Headaches, aches, pain, and digestive disorders are also signs that you need to slow down. Take care of yourself first, otherwise, you won’t be your best for your family, friends, or work.

About Kellie R. Stone

"I make no excuses for my diverse roles as a Rock Your Feminine Type Coach™ and Branding Expert, best-selling author, and crime thriller novelist. Yes, I do still chuckle a bit at the irony. I kick ass as a women’s biz coach by day and kill off vulnerable fiction characters at night. What the hell, it makes for some interesting dreams. I believe that everyone should pursue their passions no matter how out there they seem to be. One of those pure heart-fluttering passions for me has always been writing. Since I did, indeed, chase my dream of being a writer, I've published two non-fiction books in the self-development genre, co-authored an international best seller, and now I'm finally pushing my much-too-old-to-be-in-the-nest novel out the door and into the world. My whole world is empowering and I adore showing others how to live life unfiltered, whether I do that through the written word or my coaching work. I love my job!" ~Kellie R. Stone
