Taking Your Health Seriously: 4 Actions That Help

One thing in life that serves you well is taking your health as seriously as possible. We understand that life gets in the way sometimes, and that doing it all is hard. But, for the most part, doing better when it comes to your health gives a strong foundation. In this article, we explore some various ways you can do better for your health.

Eat Quality, Clean Food

Because food enters your body every day, it affects you continually. This means you are either hurting your health or making it better with what you eat or drink. Many women are somewhere in the middle with OK diets or don’t know how to get on the “taking your health seriously” train. No worries, it’s never too late to do better for yourself.

Make note of how various foods and drinks make you feel. Every person is different, so eating or not eating something may not serve you like it does others. Keep a food journal if you suspect your diet is harming you. Do also research quality, clean foods and incorporate them in your diet as you can.

Exercise Regularly

Exercise Regularly

Let’s talk about exercise. Make sure that you are exercising/moving regularly. It’s not always easy to find the time or energy for exercise, but as Kevin Morgan of Rochester makes clear, do your best to move your body in some capacity regularly. For some people this might mean waking up earlier or going to bed later. It also may require a blessing from your doctor before you start anything new, especially if you’re sick or injured. Do what you can that works for you and is safe.

Find an exercise/movement that you enjoy. If you’re a fan of the gym, go to the gym. If you would rather do pilates, there are companies like Eti Pilates that offer various programs. Or, if walking and swimming are preferable, those options are there if you need them always or a few days a week.

Acknowledge Your Mental Health

Too many women ignore their mental health, sending it on a sharp decline. Acknowledge your mental health regularly and do whatever you can to improve it. Mental health is not something  you should ever be embarrassed about because we all struggle sometimes. You wouldn’t feel bad about seeking help for a physical problem, so you shouldn’t for seeking mental health help. Of course, you might just need to take some time to think about your life and recharge. Start there, and if that doesn’t work, get the help you need.

Speak To A Doctor

Last but not least, speaking to a doctor if you need some advice about health is a serving thing to do. Doctors are there to help you with anything bothering you. They are there to treat you when you are ill, and they are there to help you live the healthiest life possible. We know that it can be tough to get an appointment with your doctor or a specialist. Taking your health seriously means getting help, sometimes. Doctors can do a full checkup to make sure you’re good before you move forward with any changes. If needed, they can also advise about lifestyle changes that would contribute to stronger health.

For me, one of those heart-fluttering passions has always been writing. Since I did, indeed, cultivate my dream of being a writer, I've written and/or edited 15+ years worth of articles here or on other blogs, published two non-fiction books in the self-development genre, co-authored an international best seller, and am working on a poetry anthology and another women's inner journey book. I adore showing others how to live life unfiltered, whether I do it through the written word or other vibrant means. Kellie R. Stone
