What is it?
Maybe you already have an idea about the secret, but for those of you who don’t, it’s pure magic. No kidding! Nothing else can give you the result that this anti-aging secret does without shots, pain or invasive procedure.
Ready, Set, Go Galvanic!
Galvanic is low level electric current that is applied to the skin. You don’t feel it, the current is that low. Galvanic works on the principle of like charges repelling each other. A product that contains a negative ion will be pushed into the skin by a negative electric current. And a positively charged product will be pushed into the skin by a positive current.
Galvanic also has the ability to stimulate the circulation of oxygen and blood in the facial skin supplying an elevated level of nourishment. Galvanic lifts and tightens the skin while stimulating the production of your own natural collagen and elastin.
A Negative/Positive Treatment
Skin care specialists have been using Galvanic for over 50 years in facial services. During a facial procedure, it is used to deeply cleanse and purify the skin. It also soothes and tones the skin. This occurs in the first cycle of treatment. The negative cycle.
In the second, and positive cycle, Anti-Aging ingredients that attack and neutralize free radicals plus cell communicating ingredients can be deposited directly INTO the deep layers of the skin where they can do the most good – much better than a product that simply sits on top of the skin! And this is the part that is new, we didn’t have the knowledge or product available to do this until recently!
Caring for Your Skin on a Deeper Level
How cool is it to know that you can treat your symptoms of aging at the deepest level possible, really target the source of your wrinkles! Now here is what makes my Galvanic the #1 Anti-Aging Secret better than any other Galvanic procedure.
1. Cost - Having this done at a spa often enough for it to have the same effect as my Galvanic you will need it to be done weekly and will run $150-$200 per treatment. Add that up over the months! Yikes!
2. Size – My Galvanic is a small, light weight device you use easily at home. Private, no appointment necessary!
3. Cutting Edge – The facial gels that are used with my Galvanic device contain a proprietary, patented ingredient that addresses a newly discovered genetic aging marker that we all have. It is your genetic pre-determination of how quickly or slowly you will age. This fabulous ingredient has been proven in 3rd party clinical studies by Stanford University to decrease dramatically the activity of this genetic marker!
4. Unique - Since this is an ingredient that is universally patented, NO ONE, no other company can get access to it. No skin care manufacturer, no cosmetic company, NO ONE! You can only get it with my Galvanic, my #1 Anti-Aging Secret.
Now you know a bit of how it works, and why I personally love it so much. And why I am able to keep looking youthful and fresh at the age of 53!
Think about this…..you can be your own Anti-Aging specialist in your own home at the time most convenient to you. Wouldn’t that be great?

More Out of Monday: Beauty Tips
By Jeffrie Ann Hall (Esthetician)
Here I am again with more skin care info for you! Today, I want to talk about Elastin. And no, it’s not the stuff that keeps your swimsuit snug on your hips! But it does have a similar property. Elastin has ‘snap back’ to it, like your swimsuit, or like a rubber band. Elastin keeps the skin tight and flexible. If there is enough elastin in your skin it will retain and return to it’s shape after being pulled or stretched.
As we age, it depletes. Just like our friend collagen; also like collagen, it’s a protein. Elastin comes from those same fibroblasts that collagen does. Actually, fibroblasts do a lot of things for our bodies, but our concern here is Skin Care and Anti-Aging.
Ingredients, Ingredients, Ingredients!
OK~ so how do we maintain the elastin in our skin as we age? There are Anti-Aging products that have elastin listed as an ingredient. They won’t work. Elastin as an ingredient in a product is just another form of moisture, like the the collagen some products list. It can not penetrate the skin. We need those cell communicating ingredients again. Something structured on the molecular level to get into the skin and have a chat with our fibroblasts.
“There are Anti-Aging products that have elastin listed as an ingredient. They won’t work.”
Cutting Edge Research
I know of only one thing that can do that. It is a product designed by biochemist, Dr. Chantal Burnison. The idea was to create an ingredient that would simulate the process of elastin production. It took 19 years and more than $20 million to research this, as well as prove it’s safety and efficacy.
The ingredient is called Ethocyn. Ethocyn is a competitive inhibitor, that means it prevents something from occurring. We have androgens (a ‘signal’ molecule) in our systems. When certain androgens enter our skin cells they will convert to DHT and attach, or bind, to the DHT receptor causing the production of elastin to slow or stop.
Is It the Fountain of Youth?
When Ethocyn is applied to the face it blocks DHT from binding with the DHT receptor in your skin cell’s fibroblasts, which means it allows your skin to continue producing elastin. It allows the fibroblasts to restore the elastin levels in your skin. The ‘snap back’ quality of younger, smoother more flexible skin is regained. Research suggests that 99% of people who use this product will restore the elasticity to the same levels of a 20 year old. Crazy, right? But true. Are you going to look 20 if you are 45? Of course not, but you will have amazing skin that will defy the years.
So, where do you find Ethocyn? Not easy. You can’t go to Macy’s for it. One company has the exclusive rights to use it as an ingredient in their own product. It’s part of my Anti-Aging Secret. Want the scoop? Let me know, I share…. In fact, I love to share. So call me, 203.740.2005, email me at ♫jeffriehall@sbcglobal.net, or visit The Secret to Perfect Skin…whatever is easy.
Until next time, take it easy, be good to yourself! As for me, I’m off to give myself an Anti-Aging treatment!

Women’s Life Link would like to introduce, Jeffrie Ann Hall. I was fortunate enough to receive a comment from her on a recent post; we’ve been chatting via email and phone ever since! She has a magnetic energy that instantly draws you to want her as a friend – a glow from the inside out. Additionally, her profound knowledge of life and self flows freely and a willingness to help other women is obvious. We have much to gain from her experience and humorous take on life. Take a closer look at this Beautiful Woman, and please welcome her to the WLL author panel.
WLL - Who is Jeffrie Ann Hall?
Jeffrie - I am a wife, a dog mom, an Esthetician, a Pilates instructor, and a friend to all women. I am a Baby Boomer who refuses to get old. I defy the frumpy. No, I’m not a “trend follower”. I don’t worry about being “of the moment”. I like personal style. Something that says “this is me, I look good and I don’t care what magazine it isn’t in”. I think that’s the ticket for a woman my age. By the way, I am 53.
I am a collector of things. I love vintage jewelry, cocktail dresses with matching coats from the 60’s, mid-century modern furniture, Fiesta Ware, and fabulous shoes.
I also love laughter, my family, and my friends. Quite partial to warm weather, I love beaches, travel, and meeting new people! I am addicted to the love in my husband’s blue eyes and the adoration in the eyes of my doggie children. Chocolate is very important too!
WLL - What is your life focus right now?
Jeffrie - To keep looking forward. To be the best I can be and lead other women to be the best they can be. By leading other women I mean to set an example, lend a helping hand, give advice when asked, be supportive and be a friend. Both areas of my work are focused on helping women to take care of themselves both inside and out.
WLL - Describe a perfect day?
Jeffrie - I have several versions….at this very moment the picture in my head is a tropical beach (sunscreen, please), a book I can’t put down, only the sound of clear blue water lapping on the shore. The feeling of contentment, my body and mind relaxed. Okay, so that one is a bit selfish, but other versions of my perfect day are not. Just the one that popped into my head right now!
WLL - What was the most important thing that you learned as a child that affects you today?
Jeffrie - That being bullied will follow you for the rest of your life. I was the tallest, I had a lazy eye (since surgically remedied, but not until I was 31, I wasn’t a good candidate until surgical methods caught up with my particular type of problem), and….my name is Jeffrie. I got made fun of. A lot. The problem of bullies still exists today and many children and teens are affected by it and carry the resulting lack of self esteem and emotional pain into adulthood. Being different makes you a target. I urge all mothers to be aware of this, take it seriously and do what theycan to reduce the impact of this on their child or teen.
WLL - How do you deal with stress?
Jeffrie – I read. I try to take myself into another world if only for a short time. Escaping? Yes, but it is like a little vacation where I can forget, for the moment, whatever is troubling me. Often I am better able to deal with stress after a break such as this. And I bake, a little something made from scratch with my own hands is comforting.
WLL - What advice would you give to women about staying healthy and beautiful?
Jeffrie - Nothing new here…. Eat high quality, healthful foods, find an exercise modality you love and stick with it. Skin care, use the best products you can find; do your research so you know what works and aren’t wasting your time and money. Take time for yourself. Fall in love with yourself.
WLL - Tell us about a future goal.
Jeffrie - My goal is to continue to help myself and other women to be better people - every day going forward. Forget what WAS and make the best of what IS. Learn, live, and love every day to my fullest potential.
WLL – How do you feel other women perceive you?
Jeffrie - Well, I think the women I know find me kind, generous, honest but sometimes too honest. Fun and funny to the point of almost being goofy at times. Available. Need me? I’m there. Easy to confide in and trustworthy, a good friend. I have been told that I have a great eye for style in clothing and furnishings, not afraid to leave the herd and pursue my own sense of taste.
WLL - What or who inspires you?
Jeffrie - My mother. Abandoned as a child, raised in a Catholic home for abandoned and orphaned girls, and with no particular role model, she knew how to be a loving mother and woman . She was just one of many in that environment, and she grew to be a wonderful woman. I love her with all my heart.
And Audrey Hepburn. I thought I was going to be her when I grew up! I kept an eye on her and admire all she did, not only as an actress, but in her endeavors to make the world a better place. A truly lovely lady.
WLL - Any regrets?
Jeffrie – Ummm. I didn’t turn out to be Audrey Hepburn? Well, seriously, yes. I have regrets. But I am choosing to leave those behind. Regrets hold us back.
Please let Jeffrie know how much we appreciate her contribution to Women’s Life Link by leaving a comment following this post. Look for her regular articles on beauty and other topics at More Out of Monday.

Boy, Did I Need a Day Off
Here it is 7-something PM, and I am just now posting. Well, I apologize for the delay, but honestly, I’m glad that 1) my Internet modem was down; 2) my laptop needs a new mother board; and 3) my husband took his laptop to work for a Power Point presentation; without those tools, there is no blogging. You see, though my web world came to a screeching halt, I got to spend a wonderful day of rest with my Missy Moo (the toddler girl) playing, eating, walking, and slumbering; which brings me to the topic of this post…rest and sleep.
Factually, I am not very good at resting…or sleeping, for that matter. I think my active mind has a looping mantra that plays 24/7. It says, “You will miss something if you sleep, nap, or just close your eyes for ten seconds.” It’s a constant battle. And the bad thing, I know how important sleep is to our bodies and our minds.
Stress and Sleep
Have you ever wondered why you have trouble sleeping when you’re stressed or overwhelmed? For one thing, your mind and emotions sort of call the shots when it comes to deciding what is important enough to lose sleep over. It can even be sub-conscious. When we are bogged down by endless “must dos”, we leave little room for shut down mode; the result is insomnia or the inability to fall asleep. It’s no wonder that millions of women all over the world turn to sleep aids for a good night’s rest.
Beauty Sleep
Likely every woman out there has either heard or said the words “I need to get my beauty sleep.” As cliche as it is; it’s VERY true! Without proper sleep and rest periods (mental and physical breaks) our bodies begin to break down at a much faster rate. Organs, cells, muscles, and your brain cells get overwhelmed when they cannot rest regularly. When you have half of your body’s necessary parts fighting for energy, what do you think happens to the not-so-important parts like your hair, nails, skin, and eyes? That’s right; they suffer…immensely.
Another Challenge
What I realized today was that I needed to slow down and do something different. I’ve been on auto-pilot for weeks now. Giving myself the ability to say “no” to the usual grind gave me a different perspective on just how busy I’ve become. As a part of my 90 Day Health Challenge, I am going to focus on getting more quality sleep and down time. Here are some things that help me:
1. Melatonin – Time Released (3mg) – This supplement is all-natural and is something that your body already produces. Try taking 3 mg. 30 minutes before your bedtime. It is said to help reboot your sleep cycles so you can again fall asleep normally. Give it a try if you suffer from mild sleep problems.
2. Deep-Breathing – Just 10 minutes of this healthy practice right before bed can alleviate some of the day’s stress and toxic overload.
3. Prayer and Meditation – When you intentionally focus on spiritual things, you temporarily push aside the body and mind – the culprits behind insomnia. Make a peaceful transition to sleep by being thankful and focusing on spiritual growth.
4. Music – If you love music, why not choose a blissful CD to listen to as you fall asleep. No hard rock here; instead put on a soothing jazz piece or an instrumental that makes you happy…and sleepy.
5. Let It Go - Make sure to process all of your fears and irritations before hitting the sack. In other words, don’t go to bed angry and with unresolved issues. Do what you can to put your mind and emotions at ease by journaling or making a list of what you intend to accomplish the next day. If something is really bothering you, try talking about it to a friend or family member.
There are many ways to combat insomnia and unrest on your own; however, you might consider consulting your health care provider if your symptoms are serious or persistent. I have nothing against sleep aids; I just think it’s worth exploring other options before diving into the land of Ambien or Trazodone. Please tell us your best “fall asleep” tips. Be well.

I’m sitting here at DC Hair Lounge waiting while my two teen daughters get their back-to-school haircuts. I thought it would be fun to ask co-owner/stylist, Deanna Robbins, a few questions about hair, inspiration, and owning a business.
WLL - What is the worst mistake women make with their hair?
Deanna - Holding on to out-of-date styles for WAY too long. The second worst thing is coloring their own hair at home.
WLL – What do you tell women who are hesitant to change their cut/style?
Deanna - It’s just hair not a hysterectomy!
WLL – What is the most important product that women need to use to keep their hair in tip-top condition?
Deanna - Good shampoo and conditioner, especially if they have color-treated hair. Poor quality hair products just wash your color right down the drain.
WLL – What are your favorite products for yourself and your clients?
Deanna - Kevin Murphy Anti-Gravity (very light, organic volumizer); Sebastian Mousse Forte. For shorter hair, Sebastian Shine Define and Flexible Hold Hairspray. For curly hair, Kevin Murphy Motion Lotion and Easy Rider products.
WLL - Where do you get inspiration for your cutting-edge hair designs?
Deanna - I draw inspiration from my clients who are artists and musicians…their lifestyles are creative. I also love the funky look of the Harajuku girls. It’s also necessary for me to create cuts for busy moms. Their lifestyle is an inspiration that requires me to “think outside the box” in order to give them a fun, modern look that’s easy to manage. (A client pictured at left).
WLL - What is the hardest thing about running your own salon?
Deanna - I would say that it’s a little unpredictable. Leading creative people can be challenging.
WLL - What is the best thing about owning a business?
Deanna - Getting to put my ideas into motion and educating others.
It was a pleasure to talk with Deanna and get some inside, expert advice on hair. She is a savvy woman I consider a great friend and a true inspiration to me in many ways. And, she has just agreed to come on board Women’s Life Link as our Hair Expert! Make sure to subscribe to our
feed so you don’t miss her “Beautiful Women” interview or any of her her upcoming posts.
For more information about DC Hair Lounge and the services they provide, call 317-841-8565. Deanna has offered $10.00 off of a new client haircut for anyone who mentions Women’s Life Link! Trust me, you want her or one of her talented stylists to cut your hair!

More Out of Monday: Beauty Tips
By Jeffrie Ann Hall (Esthetician)
I have some news for you, ladies. The other day a friend showed me a new moisturizer she had just spent a fortune on. She was so happy about it and wanted my opinion….so I looked at the ingredient list. And, I am sorry to say, I had to tell her that the collagen boosting promise that the company advertised was completely false! The product contained nothing that would actually help her skin to regain lost collagen. She had merely purchased an expensive moisturizer with no real anti-aging benefits!
Don’t Waste Your Money
I want to save you from making that same mistake! I hope that this bit of info is helpful to you. Once you know what to look for, choosing the right product should be a snap!
Many skin care companies offer products that supposedly replace the collagen in your skin. Some do the job, but most can’t. There is a very good reason why. Since I am an Esthetician, I can tell you why one treatment product will work and another won’t. You must look at the ingredients listed. Collagen as an ingredient itself is nothing more than an expensive moisturizer. A collagen molecule is much too large to penetrate your skin’s pores.
The Truth About Collagen
Collagen as an ingredient does not promote the production of collagen in your skin. It simply sits on top of your skin and gives very temporary plumping results.
You can INJECT collagen (big ouch! bigger money!) into your skin and fill lines but that is a whole different subject. What I am addressing here is how to choose a treatment product that has cell-communicating ingredients that will tell your skin to start producing its own collagen naturally, as it is meant to do.
Our Internal Collagen Factory
In the deepest dermal (skin) layer, the dermis layer, we have what are called fibroblasts. Think of these as little factories that produce your collagen, as well as elastin and glucosaminoglycans (elastin for skin ‘snap back’ and GAG’s for hydration). Over time they slow down or quit the job altogether. What will get them to start producing again are cell communicating ingredients.
And what is that? PEPTIDES! PRO COLLAGEN PEPTIDES! Collagen is a protein. Peptides are small chains of amino acids, which are proteins, which are tiny enough to actually penetrate your skin’s pores and talk to your fibroblasts - your collagen factories! They attach to the fibroblasts and fill in lost information, so to speak, and recreate that whole intact chain of proteins that enables collagen to again be produced and present in the skin.
Collagen: The Kind of Plump Every Woman Wants
Now, collagen is not going to firm or lift the skin. Collagen is what will help to fill in those little birdie feet at the corners of our eyes. It will help to fill in the nasty vertical lines on your upper lip that your favorite lipstick so happily migrates into. And how about those parenthesis around your mouth? Yes, those too!
A Different Can of Worms
If you are concerned with firming and lifting the skin, (my friend thought her so called collagen cream would do this too!) that needs to be addressed differently because it’s an issue with loss of elastin, which is also produced by the fibroblast. Like collagen, elastin is also important to the underlying structure of the skin, the support system, if you will. That is a topic for another day! More on that later.
Savvy Shopping: Read the Label!
So, look for products that list Peptides for encouraging the stimulation of collagen production. Also be on the look out for Soy Isoflavones as these will also help to smooth out lines and wrinkles while inhibiting metalloproteinase which are enzymes that stimulate the degradation of collagen and elastin. Magnesium is another great ingredient which is a key component in the energy cycle of the skin.

My Best Friend, Kellie
By Donna Martelli
By now you know Kellie Stone as the founder of Women’s Life Link, an amazing writer on all subjects pertaining to women’s health, wellness and beauty. I’ve known her as so much more. Way back in 1991, she walked into a Christian Book Store, which I owned and managed at the time, looking for a part time job. I hired her on the spot. Immediately, she started making things beautiful in the store with creative displays.
Over the last 18 years, I have been her boss, her trainer, her mentor, her friend, and her student. She has been my boss, my trainer, my mentor, my friend, and my student. We have laughed together, cried together, inspired each other, frustrated each other, but ultimately always encouraged and helped each other. Kellie is probably the most creative person I have ever known – she really does make all things beautiful! I asked her the following questions so you could gain more insight into who she is. Enjoy!
Donna – You and your 2 oldest daughters
(23 and 25) look like sisters. How do you do it? (Kellie pictured at right with her oldest daughter before her wedding).
Kellie – Well, first of all, I must have been born with good skin genes! Other than that, I have taken great care of my skin (especially my face and neck) since I was about 16. That includes using good skin care products, staying out of the sun except to get my daily 10 minute infusion of vitamin D, drinking pure, clean water, doing facial exercises and reflexology, and making sure to wash my face every night before bed. It’s nothing special…just consistency.
Donna – What is your greatest desire in this life?
Kellie - First and foremost, my greatest desire is that my children are happy and find fulfillment through their passions. I spent too many years not pursuing my true passions and lost many opportunities along the way. Secondly, I want to die knowing that I left some kind of mark on this world. Helping others discover their potential brings me the greatest joy.
Donna - What is your greatest fear?
Kellie – My greatest fear is not reaching my potential as a women, mother, wife, friend, and writer. It’s not really something I dwell on, but I definitely work toward success in those areas daily. The really scary thing is this: what if what I think is my potential isn’t it at all? I guess that’s where prayer and meditation comes in.
Donna – What do you like to do when you are not working on WLL?
Kellie – I enjoy spending time with my family, especially in the kitchen. I have found the most profound family bonding over pizza dough and our “experimental” desserts. Admittedly, I also love to watch crime shows like CSI, Cold Case, and Forensic Files. They give me inspiration for my fiction novel writing projects that take a lot of time as well.
Donna – What’s your take on how to make it all work together: wife, mother career woman, etc?
Kellie - This one is subject to interpretation. In other words, I don’t know if my way is getting the job done or not. There are times that I feel completely balanced; and there are times that I feel like a complete failure. All I can say is every woman has to find there own mix and do what works for them. If I end up in a place that is not working, then I change what I can in order to find peace and balance again. This works most of the time.
Donna - Tell us about 3 people in your life who have most impacted you and how.
Kellie – First, my mother gave me a sense of who I was, not by being a perfect mother, but by keeping an open line of communication between the two of us. Though she was often preoccupied, I could always come to her with any problem or victory and expect that she would either cry or celebrate with me.
Second, you, Donna Martelli, have been a source of great inspiration when it comes to spiritual growth and application. I have also seen you exemplify business ownership, ministry, and a hopeful sense of one’s future. You have been a true friend who is always there for me.
And third, I have to say that my seventh grade English teacher impacted me with instilling a desire to write well. She was always encouraging when it came to my writing projects.
Donna - What’s the most important thing you learned as a child that has helped you in your adult life?
Kellie - I learned not to be afraid of people. Putting yourself out there is the only way to find opportunities and life-changing relationships. That is why I created Women’s Life Link.
Seriously, what if I had not walked to the mall that day and came into your store asking for a job?
Donna - How do you handle anger, disappointment and frustration?
Kellie – Ooh, good question! Usually, I handle it fairly well. Not so the case when I was younger. I have learned that situations can change quickly (and usually do). A glitch in your day or week isn’t worth blowing your top over. Sometimes your failures and disappointments can lead to your greatest victories. I also find that sharing times of negativity with a trusted friend helps ease the emotions that can multiply if gone unchecked. Visualizing a positive outcome works wonders, too!
Donna - Where do you want to be 10 years from now?
Kellie - I would love to be the hip, happy grandmother of at least several little ones. I have a deep desire to work with women internationally as well as locally by way of WLL, the Internet, speaking engagements, and my books. Truly, I would just love to look back and see that my life has been useful and creatively abundant!
Donna - And lastly, how do you think you are perceived by others?
Kellie - Well, that depends on who you’re talking to. I hope that they see me as someone who has depth and compassion. I want others to see the real me- the non-perfect woman that I am.
Sometimes, I shock people because they can’t believe that I have actually given birth to six children; their expressions are hilarious! I think they also see me as someone who loves to make things more beautiful…and I do.
A woman’s quest for beautiful skin and for affordable, feel-good products to get her there is one that can be frustrating. Even with international accessibility at our fingertips, we can surf around the world only to still be disappointed in the selection (and price) of good, healthy products. Fortunately, for some that unsuccessful search inspires them to not only create their own but make a career out of it; as in the case of Tara Reynolds.
Growing Sacred Herbals
After continuous disappointment with skincare products that contained preservatives and other chemicals, Tara was forced to take action and make what she needed. “I started making my own products from scratch with fine ingredients like rich butters and oils and fine quality essential oils. What I found is that my skin had never looked or felt so good,” said the owner/founder of the four-year-old company, Sacred Herbals. A certified Herbalist and Aromatherapist, Tara is quite qualified to create products that not only promote beautiful skin but a healthy emotional and spirtual experience.
Spirit of Beauty, whose sweet impulses, Flung like the rose of dawn across the sea, Alone can flush the exalted consciousness With shafts of sensible divinity– Light of the world, essential loveliness. - Alan Seeger, Ode to Natural Beauty (st. 2)
My Own “Sacred” Experience
I was delighted to meet Tara via her blog and was immediately drawn to learn more about her line of organic beauty products. She graciously sent me one of her natural body scrubs to try. When the Cocoa Butter Walnut Body Scrub arrived, I couldn’t wait to get in the shower and try it.
First, I took in the comforting aroma of the patchouli, frankincense, cedar wood, lemon, orange, lavender, and mandarin essential blend that truly made my first experience with the product a pleasant one. Next, I scooped out the firm, well-packed scrub (not gushy and runny like some) and proceeded to swirl it onto my arms and chest area. Immediately, the tiny, ground pieces of walnut began to invigorate my skin with a gentle but effective exfoliation. I’ve used some scrubs that almost hurt to use, so I was glad when this one did its job without inflicting any pain.
Finishing up my total body experience with the scrub, I noticed the aromatherapy affect inside my shower. The scent was motivating and even a little sensual as, for me, patchouli can be. The product rinsed away well and left only a nice trace of the natural oils behind. After towel drying, I noticed how soft and smooth my skin felt. It was as if I had already put on lotion (a nice bonus I did not expect). I have now used the Walnut Scrub several times and couldn’t be happier with the results. It seems to get better every time! The only thing left to do is hurry up and purchase some of Tara’s other natural products.
What They Offer
On the Sacred Herbal site, you’ll find a “full line of skin, bath and body products developed with a standard of achieving nothing less than natural perfection,” as they state on their about page. Some of the products they offer are creamy whipped body butters, irresistible body scrubs, luxury bath bombs, seasonal silky lip balms, hand crafted and blended natural perfumes, exotic blended bath salts and more!

The Future of Anti-Aging
Ladies, here it is. I’m going to give you this information with a sincere hope that you believe it is real. Recently, I was told that there is technology coming as soon as early January 2010 that will change the anti-aging market as we know it. Part of it is already on the market through the 25-year-old company Nu Skin. Watch the following video for a little background on the scientific discovery I was turned on to.
Internal and external products that will actually replace the voids in our youth gene clusters is on the verge of hitting the market. Though I don’t understand all of the science behind this discovery, I do see how it is going to revolutionize anti-aging. If these products deliver what Nu Skin claims they will, women all over the world will finally behold the “fountain of youth” that has been elusive to say the least.
To age “gracefully,” as one Nu Skin distributor stated at the anti-aging seminar, “is something that everyone wants.” The now multi-billion dollar anti-aging industry stands to gain its momentum by 75% over the next 10 years by way of the large percentage of the population entering the more mature years that promote the desire to look younger.
I will be keeping up-to-date on the latest information as it is released and certainly pass it on to you. I know I am looking forward to trying more of Nu Skin’s products and learning more about the Age Loc technology. You can visit the Nu Skin website for prices and additional information. Let us know how you think this new line of anti-aging products might change your life. Be well-be beautiful.

Products and Gadgets
The search for the fountain of youth is never ending. Unfortunately, our flow of expendable cash for the quest is not…at least mine isn’t. I do believe in quality, however. Skimping on skin care and anti-aging is not an option for me as I care a great deal about my body. Having said that, I don’t mean that I will spend food money on products or services either. There is a balance that must come when investing in your health and beauty.
As I said in a previous post in this series, we will take a look at what I believe are quality products and one amazing anti-aging gadget that delivers the goods. Another thing I wanted to let you know is I don’t promote products and services on this site for the sake of content or for any revenue that I might eventually get. I will not even mention something unless I’ve used it or someone close to me has benefited from it. So, now that I’ve revealed my rule for product promotion, I can move on to the fun part…the products.
Topical Lifting Products
Reversing Gelee Lift – The first such product in this category that I ever used was Arbonne’s Reversing Gelee Lift. “This gel, with Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, a stable form of vitamin C, is readily absorbed by the skin and promotes production of collagen, elastin, and ground substance,” as stated on the Arbonne site. The product is great for every day use or for a night out when you want to look your best. The only draw back, the ”lift” is temporary. However, the botanically based product does give you a nice dose of vitamins and anti-oxidants. Not to mention it is affordable. ($45.00, Arbonne.com)
Technology for Your Skin
While attending an anti-aging seminar recently, I was introduced to an amazing gadget for your skin. It’s called the Galvanic Spa II byNu Skin. During the demonstration, I was relaxed- a little skeptical- but ready to see what the gizmo could do. She applied a topical gel to my face on one side and proceeded to move the hand held unit over the surface of my skin. I could feel tiny charges that reminded me of when your foot comes back from being numb except not quite that intense.
After finishing up the 2-part treatment on one side, I could definitely see a difference. My skin felt energized and firmer than the other did. Because I was going out after the seminar, I asked her to do the other side. It was amazing seeing both sides tight and refreshed. What’s more, the results were permanent. It’s been almost a week and I can still see the changes.
How It Works
The unit was designed to enhance and promote the deep absorption of products into the skin. That in itself is reason enough to use it; however, customers have noticed an incredible “side-effect” of the spa. Women and men all over (like me) are watching their faces transform before their eyes. Wrinkles are smoother and less noticeable; skin is tighter; and tone is improving.
The Galvanic Spa uses micro-currents that are low voltage but high frequency. Angalena Davis, from Nu Skin explains it this way. “We have two repelling charges that are repelling each other and that’s how we are driving these ingredients into the skin.” The system is made to use on the face, body, and even the scalp. Each area of the body is treated with its own special contouring attachment that comes with the system.
Nu Skin has special gels that accompany the system and can be purchased as needed. I believe that this unit is a wonderful addition to any woman’s personal skin care protocol. And for those of you who spend a lot of money and time on your beauty, I definitely think you will find it well worth the price of $300.00. For more information about the Galvanic Spa II system, contact Dr. Terri Hawkins-Fox.
Please let us know if you try any of the products we recommend. Your stories are important to this website. For now, Be well- be beautiful.

“Mini-Procedures: Are They Worth It?
I don’t think there is a woman out there who really wants to get her face cut and sewn up by anyone. Fortunately, that is why there are so many alternatives to the three “P’s” (Plastic Surgery, Pain, and Price). Some may be better on the pocket book and have much less pain involved but are they all that they’re cracked up to be. Let’s take a look at one such procedure that has gotten mixed reviews.
The Thread Face Lift
If you’re dead set on getting a procedure done but don’t want the invasive surgery or the bill, there is a method that is used on some women who qualify. By that I mean, not everyone is a good candidate for this type of lift that is called a Thread Face Lift. However, be forewarned that this type of lessor surgery may not give you the results that you want.
Is It For Me?
The most qualified patients are those in their 30s – 60s and have moderately well-toned skin that is just beginning to sag and lose elasticity. Patients are at a much lower risk for complications as little to no anesthesia is needed for this safe method that involves a series of threads placed under the skin to aid in supporting repositioned muscle and soft tissues. Furthermore, because the procedure is less risky, has a much more doable recovery time, and a price tag that can be half of the cost of traditional face lift surgery, many women are considering it as a viable option.
The Controversy
There are claims that the thread lift gives you back a tight, youthful look of yesteryear; this can be true, but the downside is that the skin will eventually begin to fight the “fish hook” like supports and move back to it’s previous state, as explained by Dr. Robert Colter, MD in this WebMD video.
If you are considering this type of procedure, do your research in advance by finding a well-qualified and experienced surgeon who has performed the Thread Face Lift regularly.
Tomorrow we will look at some various products that will give anything from a temporary lift to results that last indefinitely. In the mean time, be well, and be beautiful.

Facial Fitness
For the second part of our series on “no surgery face lifts,” I want to share with you a completely natural way in which to get back a youthful, fit face. When I was little, my mother used do these facial exercises that made me laugh at her because of the funny expressions that she would make. I’d ask, “Mommy, what are you doing?”
“I’m getting rid of my double chin and saggy cheeks,” she would reply. I was seven; that meant absolutely nothing to me. Still, I watched in amusement as she twisted her mouth, tried to touch her tongue to the tip of her nose, and acted as though she was screaming without making a sound. I was mesmerized by her comical routine nightly. I said that to say this; though my mother passed at 59, she looked about 40 before she got sick. She attributed her youthful complexion to the years of facial exercises. Now that I’m in my forties, I totally get it, Mom.
She would be proud that I have followed in her footsteps by using a similar facial exercise program. I will do my best to describe an easy routine you can do every day.
- The Tongue Touch – With your tongue stuck out as far as it can go, curl it up toward the end of your nose. Though most can’t actually touch your nose, pretend that that’s what you are doing. Repeat the movement 10 times. The stretch and tension this exercise puts on the chin and the underneath parts does wonders for a double chin and sagging muscles.
- The “Ouch” Mouth – Start with a closed mouth, then open it suddenly as if you are saying an exaggerated “ouch” sound. You don’t have to say ouch, but it won’t hurt if you do. Focus on your facial muscles as you repeat this motion 10 times.
- The Squint – This one is easy. Just pretend that you are trying to block something from getting into your eyes. Scrunch your eyes and cheek muscles tightly for a few seconds and release. Repeat this 10 times.
- The Open Wide – Start with a closed mouth, then open it as wide as you can sticking your tongue out and down towards your chin. This one works on the chin and cheek areas. You can repeat this 10 times.
- The Eyebrow Torque – Make a scowling expression (just think about your mean boss or how your husband forgot to take the trash out for two weeks straight). Take your index fingers and thumbs and firmly hold your brows down in that position. Now, try to raise your eyebrows. Repeat this exercise 10 times for tighter brow muscles.
You should feel a difference in your endurance after about a week. At that point, you can increase your repetitions to 15 or 20. I noticed an improvement in the tightness of my facial muscles in about two weeks. Results will vary depending on your consistency and the current level of facial fitness. Please view the following video for a quick excerpt from a facial fitness seminar. For more exercises and information on facial fitness, visit Cynthia Rowland’s website.

With the “no surgery face lift” series this week, I thought I would ask you ladies what you would change about your faces if you could. Please share your wish list with us. Personally, I would change the width of my nose. A little more definition (less point) and a narrower bridge would be great. However, it’s not bad enough for me to actually get surgery. I’m sort of a chicken, and I don’t like the idea of someone hacking on my face. Now, if I ever broke my nose, that would be different.
Also, if you have had any plastic surgery already, please share your story with us. You can send us before and after photos if you like, and with your permission, we will post them.

Giving Women Everywhere the Power to Say “No” to the Knife
This week we will be focusing on our “mugs”. That’s right, our faces. We are going to take a look at some things you can do for the gal who’s staring back at you in the mirror. Some of these techniques are down home remedies; some are a little more sophisticated; and some are so high tech that you will barely believe they are possible until you try them.
I’m sure most women have daydreamed in the mirror about what their face might look like after a face lift.
”Just a little lift there, just a pinch off here, maybe an eye job will do nicely, too.”
Listen real closely; you can almost hear the longing murmurs, the wishing groans, the slight sound of women’s fingers gently pulling up their neck skin all over the world. Let’s face it, we all want healthy, happy, and young-looking skin. And, we will do almost anything to get it…if you can afford it, that is. Yes, there are those who have and will enter the office of a plastic surgeon some time in their lives. I’m not going to bash the cosmetic surgery industry; that’s not my style. What I am going to do is share some alternatives to the knife. Follow us this week for five “No Surgery Face Lift” treatments that actually work.
The first DIY treatment that I just LOVE is one that has ancient roots in Eastern cultures. I have spoken about Body Reflexology in previous posts, but I didn’t really give you any details about using it for beauty. Though there are many other wonderful ways to get glowing, beautiful skin, (we will talk about them this week) this easy-to-do method gives you results without any cost. You read that right! It’s free…if you DIY. All you need is your fingers and a little time.
An Expert in the Field
I have used the method for “A Do-It-Yourself Face Lift at Home” as outlined in Mildred Carter’s book, Body Reflexology: Healing at Your Fingertips. I noticed a change in the firmness and look of my skin after only several treatments. Carter recommends the DIY method to anyone but says that it “works especially well for middle-aged women.” She also states that it is important to keep skin moisturized for maximum results.
The actual procedure is a little tricky the first time as there are many reflex points on the face that you have to find. It’s not something that you can do in five minutes right before work (then again, neither is getting drugged, cut, sewn back up, and recovered from surgery) . This is an investment of concentrated time for the betterment of your health and beauty. I use it as part of the “me time” I allow myself a couple times a week. We are worth it, ladies.
How to Get Started
Other than me typing out the entire chapter right here on the blog, I think the best way for you to get this information is to buy or borrow the book yourself.
6 Good Reasons Why You NEED to Buy That Book
• You can take your time with the procedure.
• You will also get to take advantage of the other wonderful reflexology treatments covered in the book. For example, the one for sagging breasts is probably the best thing I’ve ever done for my “girls”.
• There’s a treatment for enhancing libido.
• There’s a treatment for beautiful hair.
• It will pay for itself after one self-treatment.
• It can help with that icky stuff that happens when you go through menopause.
I’m not going to beg you to buy the book; Amazon doesn’t pay associates that much. It’s just a way for you to get really great skin and a tighter face that doesn’t nearly fall off when you bend over. It’s up to you. You decide. I won’t badger you about it, anymore. No, not me.
If you don’t care for this post about reflexology, you will just have to join us tomorrow for another “No Surgery Face Lift” tip. You could just subscribe so you don’t miss anything. Friday’s post will blow you away! Be well-be beautiful.
