Unique Mother’s Day Gift And Giveaway

Click to view a larger pictureWith Mother’s Day quickly approaching, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite online companies to find unique gifts from the heart.  So, I couldn’t help but show you this beautiful hand-carved piece I found at Novica.com.  It reminded me that no matter how far we are from our children or how old they are, we are still connected and nothing or no one can take that away.  I was able to find this amazing piece very quickly because of the special Mother’s Day collections Novica put together in one place.  I’ve always loved the attention to detail on their site and how easy they make shopping for just about any gift or special piece for yourself.  This particular “Heart Power”carving  comes from Indonesia and is made out of the native sugar wood (Heart Power,$44.95 at Novica.com).  Because we love to promote and help women from all over the world to shine, I wanted to also share the artist’s touching story with you here.

Meet Eka

Eka“I am Eka, and I was introduced to Novica by my husband Putra Suteja. Unfortunately he passed away in 2009 after a long illness, leaving me with a 3 year old daughter and a 10 day old son. I decided to honor his memory by continuing carving, something I learned from my father from a very young age. Dad would carve and my mother, brothers and I would finish the pieces. We worked this way until I married Putra Suteja.

He liked to carve coconut shells and we enjoyed developing new styles and designs together, then I would make the samples. Now that I’m the sole provider for my children, I continue to carve coconut shells, and I also carve statuettes from wood.

My children are my biggest motivation to work and to move on. Even though now I am alone, I always keep my spirit up and go on strong for my children. Thanks to them I do not falter, and thanks to all of you for always supporting me.

Being associated with Novica means I can feed my children – I will always do my best to provide a good future for them. Thanks Novica and thanks to you all, because you encourage me to continue developing new ideas and designs for the sculptures so they will be always liked.”

About Kellie R. Stone

"I make no excuses for my diverse roles as a Rock Your Feminine Type Coach™ and Branding Expert, best-selling author, and crime thriller novelist. Yes, I do still chuckle a bit at the irony. I kick ass as a women’s biz coach by day and kill off vulnerable fiction characters at night. What the hell, it makes for some interesting dreams. I believe that everyone should pursue their passions no matter how out there they seem to be. One of those pure heart-fluttering passions for me has always been writing. Since I did, indeed, chase my dream of being a writer, I've published two non-fiction books in the self-development genre, co-authored an international best seller, and now I'm finally pushing my much-too-old-to-be-in-the-nest novel out the door and into the world. My whole world is empowering and I adore showing others how to live life unfiltered, whether I do that through the written word or my coaching work. I love my job!" ~Kellie R. Stone
