Feeling beautiful is so subjective that it’s impossible to define what it means with one statement or opinion. Truthfully, it is an experience that is desirable but often illusive at best. This has much to do with the fact that many women don’t have a sense of themselves and a connection to self-love- two important facets of recognizing beauty in ourselves.
Feeling beautiful is far more than just a sense of outward appearance, it’s also closely related to emotions and mental state. Self-confidence and radiance can be achieved through the act of self-care. I believe that everyone has a part of each of these things in varying measures. If you need to increase in any of them, start by being aware of how you feel and what you want. Here are just a few tips that just might enhance your beauty.
Check Your Attitude
One way to change the way you feel about yourself is to check your attitude. If you have a lot of self-doubt and constantly see the negative in your life, you may be limiting your ability to feel happy and beautiful. This is a tough place to be because when you feel down nothing seems right or positive. One thing that helps me is focusing on gratitude for everything in my life. If you want to get specific concerning beauty, look at what you do love about yourself and your appearance. Hopefully, this will give you a place to start.
If you are unhappy about certain aspects of appearance, such as your teeth, make a plan to make improvements. For example, if you grind your teeth, take to your dentist about solutions such as mouthguards. This action empowers you to accept things you can’t change and take action on things you can. Remember, gratitude and self-compassion are the beginning of truly connecting to your beauty inside and out.
Drink Enough Water
Simply increasing your water intake is enough to enhance your health and your appearance. Being appropriately hydrated helps your skin appear brighter, younger, and more resilient. Water also helps the body eliminate toxins from your organs. Understand that the skin is the largest organ in the body, so you can only imagine how many toxins get trapped every day.
Get Quality Sleep
It is called beauty sleep for a reason. While we are asleep, the body works hard to recover and remove toxins from the body. During quality sleep, we repair the damage of the day, in terms of skin, this is a remarkable process that can help keep you looking younger longer.
The skin also creates more collagen during sleep, which is what gives skin plumpness and helps prevent pre-mature aging. Try to get at least seven hours of sleep a night for not only your outward appearance but for your cognitive and emotional function.
Move Your Body More
Exercise is a great way to enhance the way you look and feel. This happens at many levels, including general health, mood, cognitive ability, and improving how your skin looks by giving it a healthful glow. Additionally, as the blood is forced to the skin’s surface during activity, it helps to detoxify and replenish it with nutrients.
Additionally, exercising can help you lose unwanted weight and tone muscles, giving you a new overall appearance. This, in itself, could make you feel happier and more self-confident. It does this by increasing the amount of serotonin and dopamine in your brain. These chemicals are also crucial for feeling joy and appreciation for your life. Isn’t this what beauty is all about?
