If you've wanted to form some new friendships or even fall in love, you must first meet some new people. I know this may seem like a daunting thing to do, especially in the scary world we live in. However, approached with a plan, this fundamental activity of being social can be fun and safe. Here are my top 5 ways to meet new people.

Anais Nin once said, "Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish it's source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings ". In part I whole heartedly agree with her. Love does not just fade away into the back ground. One or both parties let it die.

For some making friends (and keeping them) comes easily, and for others it seems to be a daunting chore that never seems to happen. Today, I was thinking about all of the people in my life whom I consider to be my friends, how we met, and how we continue to grow (or not) in our relationships. Have I been a good friend? Yes and no...nobody is perfect.

You know what? I'm the luckiest blogger in the world to have so many beautiful, talented, and professional women contribute to this web site. I realize that most blogs function with one person at the keyboard; however, I wanted to do things a little differently. Although I'd love to think that "I'm all that", frequent reality checks reveal that's not the case.

Since I started this blog back in March, I have learned how quickly that you can go from being scared of the Word Press Dashboard to whizzing around it like a Cirque Du Soliel aerialist. Another thing that magically happens is making new web friends - the topic of this Fortunate Friday (a new column for Fridays that talks about the fortunes of blogging).

Girl friends help me to see the other side, alternatives, and ways to tackle the issue. Personally I receive girl friends as precious gifts from God. They have given me love, companionship, strength, confidence, peace, and joy! (Not to mention the shoulder massages!)

If you are anything like me, keeping in touch with friends can take a back seat to work, housekeeping, grocery shopping, and mom's taxi service. A dilemma that strains even the best friendships. We all want to improve our relationships but often struggle with consistent communication, the foundation of any good friendship. Fortunately, with a little creativity and planning, we can keep our best buds close.
