Is My Past Hurting My Health?

When I was the ripe old age of 13, I was introduced to the world of peer pressure. Along with that came smoking cigarettes. I thought I was cool, with it, or whatever you want to call it; sadly, I was mistaking. Throughout my teens and even into my twenties (except when I was pregnant), cigarettes remained a vice that I didn't want to give up. That is until I was getting sick all the time with chest infections and sore throats.

Making Decisions

Today's topic is one with which many have trouble - on a daily basis. It is making decisions and acting upon them. I, for one, am one of those who don't find making some decisions to be pleasant; therefore, I avoid them. When I say this, I don't mean your every day ones like which breakfast cereal to buy or what shoes should I wear today; no, the ones I speak of are much more life-changing and some can even be hazardous or painful.

90 Day Health Challenge: Week 2

Well, ladies, I managed to drop the water weight I gained last week and even a couple of extra pounds, making the total loss so far in my health challenge 2.5 lbs. I set a goal of losing a total of 10 pounds, so I'm excited that I'm a quarter of the way there.

Discouragement and Frustration: You Can Overcome Them

Women, especially, experience these troubling emotions when they see the ones they love hurting or in trouble. Our natural instinct to nurture and protect can be overwhelming; we are left wondering why no one sees our undying effort to make things better - can't they just stop screwing up already? And, when we can't change things quickly enough, it puts us into a heightened sense of frustration; I believe this is called motherhood or PMS.

How Healthy Am I…Really?

This week has been one of self-evaluation for me. I attended two health/anti-aging seminars that absolutely shattered my delusional mind-set that I was actually healthy. It's like the denial that comes when you know that you've gained weight but think if you don't get on the scale it won't be true. Well, I was doing that with my state of health.

How Do I Strengthen My Immune System?

I’m sure we’ve all heard that phrase at one time or another, but may not have associated it with the scheme of our overall health. The connection that’s being made is referring to our immune system, and this remarkable network determines what state of health we’re in at the present and what we’re setting the stage for in the near future.

Anticipation: A Healthy Emotion

Have you ever wondered why you feel more alive when you are looking forward to something. Spiritual Enlightenment: A Woman’s Emotional “Neti Pot”

It dawned on me today that when we are not spiritually and emotionally sound, we can't be our best - the women that we are meant to be. You know, like when your allergies are acting up; you don't put your best foot forward because you're too busy blowing your nose and trying to breathe - nothing feels right. This is the equivalent of being emotionally stuck in second gear; you can't seem to get where you want to go at the speed you need to get there.

Diet Stress or Stressful Diet?

Without question, our enjoyment - if not our whole world - as one would say, revolves around what we eat or our decision and anticipation of what we will eat. Yes, we all have been recipients of both the contentment and frustration our decisions have created. Truly, haven’t we all - at one time or another - considered refraining from Big Macs, pizza, french fries, pies, and desserts a stress in itself?

Embracing Your Inner Child: A Women’s Happiness

Have you ever wondered why young children enjoy simple, unimportant interactions with every day objects like flowers (or flour), bugs, water, dirt, and even the really gross stuff? Because their minds aren't filled with the complications of life, they have time for the sensical parties in which we adults refuse to partake - most of the time.

Be True to Yourself

My mom died of cancer at the age of 52. That’s way too young! Why?? Through the years I have thought of her and asked God that question. Consequently, I now know why she went to an early grave. My dad was strong and authoritative, from the generation that taught him to be the head of the household and that the wife must submit to his every wish, while giving up her own desires and dreams.
